Wilks IT Notification- PVI Migration to Linqx M365

IT plans on migrating PVI staff from the PVI M365 tenant to the LINQX M365 tenant over the weekend of Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th.
All M365 resources are impacted. The primary services are listed below with estimated impact and what to expect post-migration. Please read this entire notification carefully.
These changes align the PVI team with the LINQX team and move everyone towards best practices and better security standards. Wilks Brothers IT is working hard to plan and enact these updates in a way that disrupts the PVI team as little as possible.
Additional information will be available via the IT Self Service Portal & will not require authentication to access, allowing access even in cases where the ability to authenticate is impacted.

Identity
The primary login username format will be firstname.lastname@domain.com. The primary SMTP email address format will be firstname.lastname@domain.com. Current email addresses will remain functional as aliases.
Okta will continue to serve as the MFA, SSO, & primary authentication provider. Okta login usernames will be updated to firstname.lastname@domain.com. Each affected staff member will receive an individual email confirming their new login username - with time to correct for spelling or preferred first names. Okta passwords are not changing.
Users and service accounts utilizing @pvisoftware.onmicrosoft.com login usernames will be updated to @linqx.onmicrosoft.com. Passwords for these accounts will be changing & will be sent with the new login usernames to each impacted user and service account.

Email
Email is one of the services that will have the most impact. Beginning Saturday morning, 10/19, all pvisoftware.com email will cease functioning for a short time. It could be as short as 2 hours, it could be as long as 48 hours. (However, we've never seen it take longer than 8 hours. )
It is important to note that this isn't a case of delayed email arriving late to the inboxes. Email sent during this migration time may be returned as undeliverable. That is how this type of migration works, regardless of when it is scheduled, it will always include some downtime.

Shared Email to M365 Group
Shared mailboxes in the PVI Software tenant will move to M365 Groups in the LINQX tenant. Currently each shared mailbox is forwarded to a distribution group. Moving them to M365 Groups skips the forwarding step, as each group will act as a distribution list. All mail sent to each M365 group will be sent to each individual member of that group.
If you are a member of the distribution group in PVI, you will be added to the corresponding M365 Group in LINQX. A list of the groups you're a member of will be included in the email confirming your username.

Teams
The following Teams will be migrated to the LINQX tenant (this should include files, channels, posts, and memberships):

For current LINQX Teams you will become members, rather than guests.

Microsoft Office
Once migrated to the LINQX tenant, all staff will be able to install a licensed local copy of the full Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point from https://portal.office.com/account#installs. This will be available as of Monday, October 21st.

Timeline

Saturday, October 19th - Sunday, October 20th: Downtime for all M365 services including Email, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
Monday, October 21st: IT Support on-site at the PVI office to assist connecting to services in the LINQX tenant, enroll computers & laptops in the LINQX tenant
